The Obama administration ordered diplomats to spy on foreign governments and dignitaries – including here in Canada – as a way to provide key biographical data to the Central Intelligence Agency.
"BartSimpson" said LOL!!!! So, any regrets for supporting this asshat yet?
Umm, we didn't elect him, your country did. The majority of American citizens in a democratic election exercised their freedom of choice and chose this man as countries leader. Weather or not any Canadian liked or disliked this man is completely irrelevant as he is your President, not our Prime Minister. We cannot regret an irrelevancy.
Oh, and you think he's the first President to send spies north of the border?...
I view this as a tremendous compliment. Of course he wants to spy on Canada. Obama knows that Canada is just the most amazing, awesome-est place anywhere.

We all know he sent them to get the best recipe for poutine and to find out how to brew a decent beer.

In any case, Canadians and Brits were on the ground in key battleground states doing footwork for the Obama camp (legal to do, I might add) and the presence of Canadian funding in particular Ohio precincts is also noted (not legal).
I also recall that during the 2008 campaign there was no end of support for Obama on this site from Canadians. You may not have elected him, but you sure did support him.
Maybe in 2012 you'll have a US President who not only likes Canada, but has actually lived in Canada at one time.
I am shocked, shocked, to find spying is going on here! Bet he's the first pres to ever suggest such a thing. The outrage. (I sure hope Harper is telling our diplomats to do the same thing.)
Nominating Palin would be a tremendous political error, even if, hypthetically, she'd go on to win. Just as the Democrats regret backing a darky, Republicans will regret backing a woman. She'll be a target, from within and without her party, because gender and race aren't as much "issues behind us" as we'd care to admit.

The 'Good Old Boys' section of the GOP is already right out front opposing her. You ought to see some of the hate-filled shit I get in the mail about Palin from Republicans. She's the key to undoing the old fuddy-duddy, three-piece suit fuckers who made life hell for Reagan in 1976 and 1980.
Given that the Tea Party kids in Congress are already being treated like shit - and they haven't even been sworn in yet - I'm expecting a near civil war for the 2012 Presidential Nomination. On the GOP side we've already got the 'Romneybots' out supporting Mitt Romney and he's viciously opposed by conservatives because he's the father of socialised health care in Massachussetts.
No kidding: If Romney gets the GOP nod in 2012 I'm voting for Obama. If I'm going to have a socialist in the White House I'll be damned if I don't vote socialist, too.

Another reason, like we need a reason, not to trust any US government - Dem or Rep.
Funny, I get called a 'radical extremist' for saying that exact same thing.
