I'd like to see the Conservatives tackle this issue. Canadians should have the right to protect their property and their neighbors. No way should these guys be in any kind of trouble with the law for detaining the vandalising punks.

This one is on the line for me. They weren't in his house, where I would give him every right to shoot them. But we really can't have people shooting other people every time somebody "prowls" around their yard. OTOH, he thought his neighbor might be in danger, so went out to protect him. I hope the courts let him off on that basis. And initially charging the first guy is just stupid - he did the right thing.

I guess people will need to pull a Wiebo Ludwig.

I have a problem with people being allowed to come out of their homes in the middle of the night with guns, I get that he was protecting his neighbour and all that but you just can't allow people to do this no matter their intentions. These men were milatary and so probably knew to keep a cool head, but someone who isn't trained to properly handle a situation like this...I see potential for the story to take a turn for the worse.
