South Korea didn't retailiate after the D{RL sank their Corvette earlier this year, so I don't think Kim Jong Ill is going to wet his pants over ROKs threats.

Useless posturing. No one is going to attack a nuclear weapons holder, even if it is unconfirmed and/or unreliable. No one wants to take the chance that the spiky haired troll and his dumpy kid wouldn't actually use it. I don't think China will excuse the North's actions this time. They've been backing them so far but this is shit China doesn't need right now. I'm sure China Kim Ding-Dong Ill or whatever his name is and telling him to knock that shit off pronto.

China is so afraid of NK collapsing, I think their word doesn't have much influence either. And, I also think China likes tweaking the West's nose by proxy like this.

The South Koreans are really tweaked this time around. They're laying on a joint exercise with the US sometime soon, but they're also calling up their reserves for 'training exercises'. If they were going to retaliate then using an exercise as a ruse would be a good strategy.

On the other side of things, if the South continues to do nothing it will do two things:

    1. It will cause the current SK regime to collapse.
    2. It will encourage the DPRK to see what else they can get away with.

Myself, I think the time to drop some bombs in Pyongyang has come. Not a massive raid, mind you, but selective targeting of military administration buildings and whatever 'palaces' that can be targeted, as well. Just to send the Coiffed One the message that he can be killed if we so desire.

A reality check would be good for both sides. The SK youth are blasé about the whole situation to the point they accuse the SK government of instigating the whole situation to cover up their own incompetence. I think it's gotten to the point the youth of SK are at a Jane Fonda point of ignorance. It may be in the interests of all if the US just lets them both start a shooting war for a bit just to wake them both up to the seriousness of the situation.

You could drop the entire South Korean weapons cache on Pyongyang and you likely wouldn't incur one civilian casualty, which means that you wouldn't rile up any of the population simply because they're all away at Uncle Kim's, reeducation and severly reduced caloric intake diet camp.

So I'm with you but screw the selective bombing, just point, shoot and let her rip.

I thought you complained about being a punching bag in highschool? If you let yourself get slapped around, and don't react, no one respects you. That's how and why.

The balloon will really go up if the NK's take a shot at the aircraft carrier the Yanks are sending to take part in the, cough-cough, "maneuvers". The carrier group could probably wipe out the NK navy and air force overnight. It's those damned artillery pieces they've got hidden in the mountain caves that are really going to cause the most damage though.

Really not looking forward to any of this at all. :(

Well that certainly would decide their fate. Sink a SK corvette - meh. Take a potshot at a Yankee carrier - kablamo.

That being said, I wonder if the US would practise the restraint it's been asking SK to entertain.
