Islamic community center developer seeks federal funding

so religion will rebuild the community that religion destroyed. (it makes no sense to me, but i just can't kick my addiction to common sense.)

Not all Muslims want to kill us. Maybe if we help the Muslims who want to become part of our society out, they will be less inclined to join the Jihadis.

Now now EB, common sense and reasonableness are not allowed when it comes to muslims.

I am normally 100% against any public funds going to ANY Religious institution. However this time, the fella running the show basically says that they won't be getting their Islamic "teaching material" from the Saudi's or any other Wahabist crackpots. This "Community Center" is 100% American by Muslim Americans.

Like I said, I'm divided. In the United States aren't Religious institutions of recognized faiths "tax exempt"? So why would the "State" get more involved by donating money to the project? The only beneficial reason I can see is to keep foreign "influences" out of the "teaching material".

What's up with reasonable posts discussing Muslims? Where's all of our raving bigots?

In the U S COnstition there is what is called the Establishment Clause" which states that the US will has a strict separation of church/mosque and State.

The Federal government cannot and should not fund building Mosques, Churches, Synogogues, or any other house of worship. This is to prevent the govt from prefering one religion over another. It is a founding principle.


This notining against Islam or any religion. It is just to keep this a secular country.
