Few have come forward to defend him. One was Zainab Rashid, a liberal Palestinian commentator, who wrote in an online opinion piece that Husayin had made the important point that "criticizing religious texts for their (intellectual) weakness can only be combatted by ... oppression, prison and execution."

    Hrmmm...

He now faces a potential life prison sentence on heresy charges for "insulting the divine essence."

Many in this conservative Muslim town say that isn't enough, and suggested he should be killed for renouncing Islam. Even family members say he should remain behind bars for life.

"He should be burned to death," said Abdul-Latif Dahoud, a 35-year-old Qalqiliya resident. The execution should take place in public "to be an example to others," he added.

And of course these people clamouring for this kids head are the same ones who the western apologists claim are not violent or bloodthirsty. ROTFL

And yet we should suck it up and put up with their antics. Their burning of poppies or bibles, insulting other religions and threatening anyone disagrees withe their warped version of religion or human rights just because a supposed "invisible" minority of Muslims are good and don't agree with these radical people.

Well apologists, you've just heard from that supposed minority of Muslims and what they have to say isn't pretty, especially for this kid.

This really drives home the fact that Muslims/Arabs don't have a sense of humour.

You couldn't be more wrong. No one's apologizing for stupid Muslim behaviour. It's all about whether or not stupid extremist behaviour on their part in turn justifies stupid extremist behaviour on OUR part (e.g. Koran burning, acting like brattish four-year olds over the (alleged) Ground Zero mosque, yammering on and on about launching a new war against the Iranians, etc.). 999 times out of 1000, some Muslim acting like an idiot way off in their own part of the world doesn't affect us at all. So why are we constantly being told that every single one of these sub-moronic fatwas and condemnations that come from these retards is a greater threat to us that's A MILLION TIMES WORSE THAN HITLER!?!?!?!?

And, like it or not, most of us probably don't think that our involving ourselves militarily, probably for the rest of forever, in the Muslim world is anything remotely resembling a good idea. We are not going to effect any meaningful changes in any of the cultural pathologies that afflict the Muslim world. It's a waste of our time, our resources, and our lives to even bother trying.

Why not? People apologize for all kinds of stupid behaviour. In bizarre and fascinating ways.

    Twitter anger over bomb tweeter
Tweeters have joined forces to support Paul Chambers, the man convicted and fined for a Twitter message threatening to blow up an airport.
    ...
A so-called "I'm Spartacus" campaign encouraging users to "re-tweet" his words has also become a huge hit.

It's interesting that our culture defends free speech instinctively.

You hit the nail on the head. Stupid Muslim behaviour doesn't warrant stupid behaviour on our part but condenming your own relative to death because of a different point of view doesn't qualify as stupid behaviour, it qualifies as sociopathic behaviour.

When an entire religion starts to display these traits it's time for the people who keep claiming that the Muslim majority are rational people who don't condone the use of violence to take notice and stop blindly protecting what appears to be a larger than first thought majority of radicalized Muslims.

We may never change their ideals and morals, militarily, diplomatically or socially but it doesn't exhonerate us from our responsibility of speaking out against their barbaric codes of discipline.
