UAE imposes new visa requirements on Canadians

It must be all those Canadians rushing to the UAE to claim refugee status.

Or maybe it's because Canada didn't back down to UAE blackmail in granting further landing slots at YYZ.
The UAE stabbed us in the back in the UN, kicked us out of the NATO base in their territory (just us, no other NATO country) and now imposes visa requirements.

Nice.

So a visa requirement is the answer ..

I can think of a helluva alot better places I would rather visit then the UAE anyway. No great loss imo.

But I think they will revert it back and it will never be implemented. Just sabre rattling IMO, as the who row is about landing rights, this just cuts into it.

But also a little fact from the otherside UAE citizens never had visa free travel to Canada in the first place.

Oh here is a comment from one of my Canadian friends living in Canada and I qoute

" UAE should just buy Air Canada, as it sucks royaly " and that got me thinking, it would'nt be beyond them, they got the money so maybe thats what they are thinking ?? What do you all think Air Canada is buyable ? i.e: Is it a listed company on the market etc etc.

I doubt that Parliament would allow a foreign company - any foreign company - to buy Canada's flag carrier.

Is it a private or public company ? and is does the parliment have such authority ??

I thought it wouldnt be possible that foreign companies could buy
American ports.

It's a private firm and, yes, Parliament has the authority to approve or disapprove of the sale or merger of publicly traded entities in Canada.

Canada would never sell Air Canada after it has bailed it out so many times.

Lets see if Etihad or Emirates even explores that avenue ?

Well, I wasn't really planning on visiting there anyways...guess I'll go somewhere else and spend my hard earned Canadian dollars (now almost at par with the US dollar).
