Authorities say a driver enraged after his Mercedes was splattered with eggs on Halloween fatally shot a 17-year-old in the neck and leg as he tried to run away.
"PublicAnimalNo9" said Well he deserved it. You don't mess with people carrying guns - he should know that.
Yep, a few eggs seem to be the going rate for a life in the good ol' USofA these days.
There was that case in Louisiana where the Japanese exchange student rang the doorbell during Halloween and the homeowner blasted away, killed him and was let off. Just defending his home against those pesky trick or treaters I guess.a
This is why I don't want Bart and his ilk to have voting rights in Canada, and would love to make some sort of exchange for ASL deal.
In the Lousiana case several witnesses reported that the Japanese kid was told to "FREEZE!" repeatedly as he continued to approach the man aiming a gun at him. He got himself killed and the authorities ruled appropriately. Language issues aside, common sense should dictate that you don't approach angry people aiming a weapon at you.
In this case there is an investigation in progress. What is known right now in this event is only the information the police are releasing in an ongoing investigation.
Tivarus King, in Lexis, comes up in a public records search as being expelled from Langston Hughes High School in March of this year for bringing a loaded firearm on campus. He's no angel and it stands to reason that there may be more to this "prank" of his than is currently being publicized.

I thought the Supreme Court ruled recently that it was unconstitutional to have "gun free zones". According to your past rhetoric, he just did what he has the Constitutional right to do, carry a gun around wherever he goes.

A 17-year-old kid does not have a right to carry a gun on campus nor does anyone else. The "Gun Free Zones" were arbitrarily set up by anti-gun municipal and state governments to ban guns from being owned or transported as much as one mile away from a school. In many jurisdictions this amounted to a total ban on firearms in people's homes and in their cars on public roads.
The High Court ruled, appropriately, that a "gun free zone" could only extend to the limit of the school property. That case was tested recently in California when an 18-year old was expelled from school for legally having a shotgun in his pickup truck which he had parked off campus in accordance with the law. The school district tried to enforce the 'gun free zone' off campus and the previous High Court decision was cited in reversing the expulsion. The school's authority ends at the school's property line. Which is as it should be.
"PublicAnimalNo9" said Well thanks for clearing that up a bit for me Bart. TBH, the ruling really had me scratching my head when it came to school yards and courthouses.
The ruling on gun free zones did not create a broader right to keep and bear arms. It just said that any gun free zone was legal so long as it extended only to the limits of the property in question. In all 50 states guns can be prohibited from courts, schools, private businesses, and privately owned open ranchland. But in no circumstance can a 'gun free zone' for a school encroach upon public thoroughfares, private homes, private businesses, and etc. merely because they adjoin the school property.
In some states the law says that a person's private vehicle parked on company, court, or school grounds is also beyond the limit of that property limit. Meaning you can legally have a gun in your locked car on company, court, or school property because the confines of your personal vehicle are already determined to be a portion of your private property subject to your Fourth Amendment rights.
Cars can be prohibited from private property, but if they are permitted then they remain the sole concern of their owners. Again, this is as it should be elsewise a precedent is created that allows your car to be searched at will and without warrant whenevr you park it on a private parking lot.
Yes, good times... Kids are idiots.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones says the driver confronted the teen and fired 10 shots...
10 shots... on someone armed with eggs... as he tried to run away!!!
Sorry guys, I don't think you could say anything that would make me take pity on the poor driver.

Well it was a Mercedes. You know what those cost to detail? And I'm sure the driver shouted "freeze" before he opened up, so that made it OK.
