Yes, how dare they put gender rights over religious rights. Obviously coming from a religion themselves, religion should be the dominant right *rolls eyes*.

I don't understand of you can make "We don't want to be next" as a baseline for stopping it.

Also it's not Quebec you need to change, it's France. Quebec is just following it's big brothers example.

There are several countries that are wanting to ban Niqabs. Quebec has the right to do so and it has nothing to do with France.

There are a number of countries opposed to wearing masks (which is what they are) for identification and security purposes.

If they want to wear wierd garments like some Hassidim do that is their busines, but they is a security issue with weaing a mask.

I really don't care what they wear most of the time, as long as they realize that they are in factg not still living in the middle east and that we do have a different culture here. A culture that demands that you take off any face covering(not just a niqab) in certain situations. Like for instance when voting, in court, getting on a plane, or even just waiting in the checkout line at Safeway.

If I have to push my hoodie back when I enter a store, I definetly object to anyone wearing a full on veil.

In the bank where I worked, one guy came in once with his full-face bike helmet on.
After we got through "talking" to him, he never came in with it on again.

Like I said in other threads, I see a lot of young girls wearing what I call the "full face" while going to the park next my house. Don't tell me it's their 'choice'. That's disgraceful in our society to do that to a young girl of 10-11-12 yo.

My pharmacist wears a veil. I don't have any problem with that. That's nice in a sense. And she's very open and 'integrated' in our society. You can tell it's her choice to wear the veil.

But the niqab... that's totally against the equality of the genders. What non-brainwashed woman would want to live like that ?

WTF exactly is the diff between the veil and the niqab? A veil covers the face, the niqab covers the face. I'm unclear about the distinction.

This is as far as the new law goes. It's not unreasonable when dealing with gov't services.

The veil is the piece of tissue that is on the hair and the neck. The niqab covers all except the eyes to see. It usually comes with a full dress covering all the body except the hands and the feet.

Actually, if it was a ninja mask I wouldn't have a problem with it. Ninjas are awesome!
