China Halts Shipments to U.S. of Tech-Crucial Minerals

The move underscores a deepening U.S. vulnerability because of its dependence upon China for tech-crucial rare earth minerals (also known as rare earth elements). Small but significant amounts of the minerals go into creating everything from PCs and cellp

China currently controls about 97 percent of rare earth production, and has the only facilities capable of processing rare earth minerals after they have been mined.

It's getting closer to home now

So China is "subsidizing its CLEAN energy industries". They are promoting the use of clean energy and even subsidizing companies who use clean energy, and of course the US has to make some big f'n stink about it. Of f'n course!
I hope they cut off the supply of rare earth minerals for good and keep it all for themselves.

The Chinese have forgotten history rather quickly.

Japanese invasions of Manchuria were land grabs for resources,

and remember what happened when the US stopped exports of oil and steel, way back when ?

So which port can we bomb first ?

The Chinese don't understand America. This kind of thing may work with the Japanese but with the USA right now this is going to be a cause for the current Congress to start a trade war to get themselves re-elected. The Democrats needed something to pull their bacon out of the fire and if they play it right, this is it.
