Academic Naheed Nenshi was poised to become mayor of Calgary, the first Muslim mayor of a major city in Canada and the first person from a visible minority to hold the city's top political office.

We're such rednecks out here. He probably only got voted in because so many of us can't read and just marked the wrong X, right?... right?... J/K

Nenshi managed to get the youth vote. He took to the internet and got the young people of this city engaged. Say what you will about young people but WE elected Nenshi. Thank god Higgins didn't get elected!
