ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — The UAE's highest judicial body says a man can beat his wife and young children as long as the beating leaves no physical marks.
There is a difference between punishing a child and assaulting a spouse. If you can't understand the difference between punishment and abuse, where one ends and the other begins, then you should never have children.
Of course. I'm simply insinuating that you're a hypocrite for deriding the laws of another country when our coutry's are essentially the same (when it pertains to children that is).
You can't tell the difference. No big surprise. Adults can be charged with assault when punishment becoomes abuse. Striking your spouse is always considered assault, unless you are defending yourself. One adult has no right to physically discipline another.
I recall a case in Oregon that was about whether a man can rape his wife - I believe that was in the 80's, ie the 1980's, so it's not that long ago that we finally recognized the concept. When was wife beating legally outlawed, and how long has it been since the cops got serious about charging domestic abusers, again since the 80's for the latter. So we're really not that far ahead of them, in these instances, maybe 100 years.
"xerxes" said OUR Supreme Court has ruled the same when it comes to child discipline as well.
Just sayin'....
Spanking a kid our whacking your wife? Come on xerxes. Are women mere children that need corrective physical punishment? I can't believe you posted that.
What a nice country to do business with.
...On a side note, but somewhat related to...in which foreign residents greatly outnumber the local population.
And yet here at home, where immigrants/new Canadians are still in the minority our laws are continually being rewritten to pander to them!
Hey, at least they're moving into the 16th century...that's a giant leap forward.
Yea and the western world is moving backwards for them so we can meet them half way.
Just sayin'....
I said, when the law applies to children.
And you can't read. I understand. It's not like you teach English to foreigners or sometinhg like that....

Looks like you may be eligible for an ESL class.
