There was no fanfare because of the country of origin and the ethnic background these folks came from. White British. Britain apologized last year and there was no monitary compensation asked for, unlike other ethnic groups who try and take what ever they can get from Canada. These people suffered extreme hardship. They were ( in alot of cases) physically,sexually, mentally abused by their hosts. Many were housed in barns and never saw the inside of the house. Many were never sent to school as promised by the so called religious organizations that brought them over.

Yet cause we haven't admitted to something wrong but the government knows there is a blood sucking lawyer out there who is just waiting for another chance to file a class action lawsuit against Canada. While the descendants of child migrants could care less it is possible to sue on behalf of someone without their consent. Which is how some people make a living in Canada, though they usually use the CHRC for that.

Yes I know suing is done on a regular basis by many immigrant groups who come here to cash in.
