The vast majority of Alberta drivers are so unclear on the basic rules of the road that they would fail the learner's licence test, according to a new study.
Shit, I live on the east coast and have several traffic circles close to my house. It chaps my ass when people do not know how to drive in them, the best is when those in the circle yeild to people waiting to enter.
Not just Albertans. Not many of the people I have seen on the road here know how to drive. Which is not weird, considering all you have to do is take a 25 minute driving test, and no mandatory lessons
Pretty much sums it up Brenda. I imagine the Netherlands was much like Denmark? Couple months of lessons? Every imaginable scenario? Expensive enough that you had to be serious about wanting to drive?
the biggest problem that most of us have? we dont think that we are 'average'. If we all thought we wer average, then maybe we'd slow down and drive more defensively.

It's now (not when I did it tho) 35 mandatory lessons (Euro 45/hr (about $ 70) then the road test that is about $400.
All in all, I spent 1000 guilders on it (20 years ago) which is about $650.
And yeah, every imaginable scenario, parallel parking (you will fail if you can't do it right), roundabouts, broken traffic lights, 3 way u-turn on the street, parking back first, everything.
Actually, the vast majority of Alberta drivers aren't Albertan's - they're Newfies or Ontarians.

Yep. You can really tell who's who at the traffic circles.

Every person whose driving skills I've thought were lacking has looked like they're from the other side of the Pacific....
Ba dump bump!
Brain dead Albertan drivers mixed with brain dead Saskatchewan drivers are a sure recipe for trouble!
Ba dump bump!
Dunno... never been to Lloydminster.

Yeah right!
The next time someone complains about the separatists in Québec, I'll say they're Albertans that moved here.

Good luck trying to convince anyone that an true Albertan would actually move there.
