If we'd just take the common-sense step of keeping muslims off the planes we'd not have to worry about this.

If we grounded planes entirely we'd have less air pollution and shipping would become the big business it once was.

 Brilliant. We'll add Irish to the list just to be on the safe side. Indians as well. Can't allow christians either, the plane may be carrying an abortion doctor. Blacks? They might rob the passengers.

I have a better idea. Why doesn't the world simply bar all Americans from their land so no plane will ever be carrying Americans so you will never have to worry about the airline threat again.

You can then have your brave navy shoot down all airliners seeing as they have experience at that sort of thing.

In Israeli air port they look at all arab looking types VERY closely and basically ignore the non-arab western folk and they have very few air terrorism problems so there might be something to it.

What they do is a lot more sophisticated than that, and I think we should copy what they do. If Israel can prevent airplane attacks, then any country should be able to do it.

No they don't. They question everybody and they have trained their staff to look for deception. They don't just pick on the muslims especially since you might find many arabs (or persian for that matter) look just like jews.

I flew El-Al once during an Air Canada strike. We flew out of London to the US and I noticed a few things. The first was during the whole screening process there were armed security above us and on all 4 sides at all times. The second was they asked me all kinds of questions about where in England I had been and why then they repeated my answers to me but changed details to test me. They did things like ask "how was my trip to Wales" when I had said I went to Scotland.

    They don't ignore "non-muslims".

Governments around the world are doing just that. Care to venture a guess as to how much it will cost? We can't all receive billions in US aid annually to be able to afford it.

We are much better off with our airport security going to the lowest bidder like at YYZ-Toronto.

Then the security company can hire hundreds of non-citizens, a majority from countries such as Pakistan, to safe guard our security just like they are now.

It always makes me feel so secure travelling through Toronto.

I remember landing in Heathrow 10 years ago, obviously before 911 and having to stand in a certain spot for a few seconds. There was no flash or camera just a few guys with big guns, but they were taking our pictures for security reasons.
