I think I should have put this under the Funny category.

The suggestion that students need teachers to teach them how to access info online is hilarious.

Is this guy for real? He should do his homework and look at why schools not only in Canada but the U.S. don't allow them in school. Yeah he is an "Idiot!"

While I think this is a really stupid idea, there are equally stupid reasons given for not allowing them in classrooms.

"This sounds like another example of Dalton McGuinty backtracking. He wanted to pull cellphones out of cars and now he wants to allow them in the classrooms. I just don't see any consistency in that thinking."

Well, considering there has never been a student killed or injured at their desk because someone wasn't paying attention....

Telus obviously donated to McSquinty's campaign.

I dunno bout that. I caught a few crumpled up paper balls in the face from my grade 9 social teacher because i wasn't paying attention. I could easily have gotten a papercut.

'I have a son and he's distracted enough already.' —Andrea Horwath, NDP leader

This is likely the first and possibly the last time that I'll ever agree with someone from the NDP, but she's absolutely correct.

If this electronic blitz continues we're going to have a society of mindless drones who, without the aid of electronics, can't count, add, read or write and if that day arrives god help society.

One big EMP and all these people will be drooling in their soup. 8O

It's gonna happen sooner rather than later too.
While I put zero stock in any of the 2012 "prophecies", 2012 could see some extensive and potentially inconvenient solar flare activity based on known solar cycles.

Great idea. They should be allowed to take turns attending and just text the notes to their friends at home too.

I'm thinkin' McMoron must have a girl toy in high school and is inconvenienced by the downtime.

This bullshit. I make all of my students turn their phones off or if they are an 'adult' onto silent/vibrate, as most are medical professionals. If there is an emergency for a student in school, phone the office and the message will be delivered.

In grade 8 our math/social teacher used to throw chalk....sometimes fire was returned, but it was a short lived battle as he had boxes of the stuff behind him and we only had scraps.

Cell phones should not be in class rooms or forums or seminars. I recently went to a seminar and there must have been a dozen or so go off. Its annoying and disruptive. I also heard a cell phone ring at a funeral and the idiot answered it right in the middle of the mass!

I don't know why it is people seem to think they need to be available every second of every day.

No one is that important. Why pretend you are?
