The controversial airport tunnel debate is gaining momentum as the leader of Wildrose Alliance Party weighed on the issue promising to pressure the province to reconsider the project.
Lets see now, if I need to get to the airport, I have to drive 100 kms. The Calgary Conservative Party wants all Albertans to throw in cash to pay for this $100M tunnel so the eastside of Calgary doesn't have to drive 3 extra kms to go around the runway.

Have you driven in Calgary? The amount of traffic is crazy, they need way more than one tunnel!
Seriously though, this is another case of the Wildrose sticking their nose into urban debates (Danielle Smith did the same last month with Edmonton's City Centre Airport). While it might score points with rural voters, it seems to be pissing off a lot of urban voters, and in this province, you need to win 2 of the 3 keys regions (rural, Calgary & Edmonton) to form a government.
If she keeps up with this strategy, all she's going to do is split the conservative vote and create a minority government (probably PC, not WRA).

Ahhhh.... the Conservative element at its finest?

$100m being a conservative estimate.
