Military police in Afghanistan are investigating unsubstantiated allegations that British and Canadian soldiers may have smuggled heroin out of the war-torn country.
One part of the big increase in drug use in the US was the Vietnam war. Lots of addicts came back from that one, lots of trade routes established. No reason Astan, producing all those poppies, and just as corrupt as South Vietnam should be any different.
"PostFactum" said That's the typical example that money always are putting down all moral humanity rules, even if you're a soldier.
This sounds more like the urban type legend about, someone's brothers, cousins, uncles, sisters, aunt who heard that the Murphy kid down the street who's serving in Afghanistan smuggled out some heroin to a friend in Toronto last week.
Rather than a shipment of heroin was found in a crate being transported from Afghanistan to Canada.
So before we hang anyone we'd better remember that Unsubstantiated is the key word here.

There are many reasons, one of which being Canada does not use conscripts.
The BBC use a similar hyped up headline, no mention of CF involvement and as you read the article, all that's happened is that the Brits are using sniffer dogs to check outbound aircraft from KAF. No arrests, no charges, fuck all really.

Yes good point. But even volunteers can be tempted.
And the reality of it is andy, there are probably a few things going on that shouldn't be. Tightening up on AT security isn't a bad thing.
After the Falklands, the bosses turned a blind eye to the Pongos coming back with 'trophies' such as Argie pistols etc. The problem was that those Argie pistols found their way to the IRA and UK organised criminal gangs. Not good.
So the question is more a matter of quantity than whether it's happening at all. But even if it is, which is not good, it's not as if this is going to represent the bulk of the opioids that find their way into Canada. Unless of course some guy got really enterprising with some transport planes - but does Canada even have transport planes?

You are kidding right andy? "...does Canada even have transport planes?"

You must be studying to be a journalist eh?
Well I recall jounalists telling me how we didn't have transport capability and had to hitch rides with the US troops. Maybe they bought some by then, I don't know. I let my Military Updates subscription lapse.
I really hope that our troops are not involved with this.
So far these are unsubstantiated allegations.
Which is why I didn't run this story when it showed up on the BBC News this morning.

How about waiting until somebody is at least charged? Wankers.
Good to smear our and the Brit troops though eh?
More lazy-journalism from the Canadian media.
