Recently there was a bust in Markham over fake Indian university degrees. I hope "talented" Indians doesn't mean fake education credentials. Too many instances of this stuff is happening recently.

India is rated as one of the most corrupt countries in the world, and Punjab, the state we get most immigrants from (at least in Vancouver) the most corrupt state. In Vancouver we had a truck driving school that taught recent Punjabi immigrants how to make face certifications, including driving over them to make them look old. Most of the fake ICBC (auto insurance) scams seem to involve Punjabis. So far we've had a Punjabi BC govt minister resign twice in a matter of days because of dirty tricks his campaign manager pulled during the election. ETC.

Corruption is rampant in their home country and it stands to reason they bring these practices to Canada with them, having said that though there are a great many of them that integrate well within our society, Most of the ones working for me will pull 12-15 hour days and not bat an eye, they love hockey (all canaucks fans) and speak moderately good english. As I mentioned in another thread, they attend our Christmas parties and invite the white folks here to their parades and celebrations. In shrt, despite the corruption (which seems ingraind in alot of them) there are worse cultures we could invite to our country

Lots of great people from India. But as you say, corruption, they don't even see as such, just ordinary way of doing business.

I wonder what culture would be worse? By far the worst terrorist act perpetrated on Canadians was done by Sikhs. So far the Canadian Muslims have not killed anybody, as far as I know.

Careful there way up on that highhorse. Canadian culture has plenty of skeletons in its vast closet.

Unfortunately true. Don't think it rises anywhere near the level of India tho. They make us look like choir boys and girls.

Andy while I agree with you I also would give character or job references for 95% of the Indo Canadians I've worked with. As far as canadian muslims go, all I can say is NOT YET and not for lack of trying as we have seen recently, I'm 100% sure there are Canadian Muslims funding various networks ect, but in the end Islams aim isn't the annialation/destruction of the western world rather it is to make Islam the dominant religion in the world, how they go about it differes but ....

I think the issue itself isn't from where we draw our immigrants rather its is a broken system that cannot weed out the criminals and troublemakers prior to their entry, losses 1000's of people ordered deported and cannot deport alot of convicted criminals for whatever reason (and when they do manage to it's tied up for years at taxpayer expese with apeal after apeal). Not to mention the boatloads of illegals the come here, how many of them end up staying when it should be "you didn't follow official channels so back you go and try again legally".
Then we have refugees living here that visit thier home countries once/twice a year and come back, sorry if your a refugee then there's no way you should be able to go home, and if you can go home thers no reson you cannot stay there.
The system needs a fix and until they do fix it we shouldn't be taking anyone into the country.

Good. Indians are hard and good workers. Not to mention fantastic cooks.

People trying to enter countries illegally Takes place all over the world, it's not like Canada is the exception. Loosing people through cracks is just laziness and likewise happens pretty much everywhere. The world is full of dreaded gypsies. XD

How about more talented people period. And less fake refugees who return to their oppressed homelands for holidays.

Much of the, er, talent is engineers. The Immigration Department knows engineers are a staple of industry and selects them out. One article on engineer immigration I read put the numbers at 12,000 a year. The Canadian universities graduate about 8,000 a year.
