Millions of dollars in taxpayer stimulus cash doled out by the Harper government was conditional upon project managers putting up federal promotional signs, The Canadian Press has learned.

People just found this out? I knew something was up when for the first time the government actually put up signs during road maintenance and in various other places that require government money. This started a while ago and is just some shameless advertising.

I would love to know just how much taxpayer money is being wasted on Harper's free advertising campaign.

This hasn't been the Norm for a long time? Here in BC, the Government would erect such signs since the 80's(perhaps even before).

I figured there was probably some sort of heavy-handedness going on, but I never suspected that funding was actually contingent upon signs going up.

Next question is what's the Tories' plan on taking them down? Or are they to be a permanent legacy of Canada's Economic Action Plan™?
