MONTREAL—He’s not Glenn Beck, the bombastic archconservative Fox News broadcaster who is prone to spontaneously crying on TV and currently a hero of the American right alongside former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.
But Eric Duhaime may just be as audaci

It is not saying that we are creating a "mirror" of the American Tea Party. Only that we are create a movement with the same goals, in a sense. Less government. More individual responsibilies, trying to change the system before we hit the wall, less debt, etc. etc. You can call that a "centre-right wing" movement.
It's also to counter the hegemony of the left and the far left in Quebec. Educate people and bring more productive ideas contrary to the "pensée unique" of the left media.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. If they can stick with fiscal responsibility, small and unintrusive government and individual liberties and avoid the far right crazy that has infected the tea party in the states some good might come of this. A renewed emphasis on small government and individual liberty in the political discourse of this country would be good.
"GreenTiger" said I hope at least this guy isn't has more of a brain than Sara Palin, but then again a chicken has a bigger brain.
Eric Duhaime is very bright and always knows all his files when debating. He has be a consultant to Stockwell Day and worked in Africa and Irak for development. An intellectual and VERY not a populist.
"bootlegga" said Conservatives in Quebec...isn't that like a Liberal in Calgary?
I thought they went extinct during the last ice age
Conservativism in Québec is not quite the same as federal conservatism. There are those with right wing values and some extreme, but they don't support harper et al.

Can we trade Sara Palin for Him? She is the original.
Here's an op/ed from in the Toronto Sun from Eric Duhaime (on of the founder) that explains more the movement:
"[url said http://www.torontosun.com/comment/columnists/2010/09/08/15287151.htmlLast week, five of my friends and I decided enough is enough.
After 50 years of endless constitutional debate in Quebec, where every single election at every level is an excuse for a fight between the Yes and the No camps, we decided there needs to be a real debate during the next elections, between those who support the status quo of a big government and those who want it to go on a diet.
We launched a grassroots movement: Reseau Liberte-Quebec (Quebec Freedom Network). The media have already dubbed us the Quebec Tea Party without a social conservative wing. It’s not that we hate so-cons in Quebec, it’s just that our religious background is different.
Even if over 80% of Quebecers are Catholic, our attendance in church is much poorer than anywhere else in North America and, not surprisingly, we are much more liberal on social issues.
The stirring of Quebec’s right comes from fiscal conservatism, from those of us looking for more individual freedom and personal responsibility. It’s our own Quebecer version of the Unite the Right movement!
Quebec has always lagged behind when it comes to public indebtedness, high taxes and state interventionism. We believe it’s more than time that we promote change and recover common sense.
One of the big problems in Quebec is that, for years, when you attacked the increase in the involvement of the state in our economy, you were told you hated Quebec. A few months ago, when Conservative MP Maxime Bernier made a speech about the importance of reducing the size and role of government, Raymond Bachand, the Liberal Finance Minister, accused him of Quebec bashing.
In the last few decades, the Quebec left has been very effective in demonizing everything and everybody that is slightly to the right of centre. However, this fear campaign is becoming untenable in the long run to a younger generation that will spend its whole future paying for the failure of the social-democratic model put in place by both the PQ and the Liberals.
The sponsorship scandal and charges the construction industry is funding the Quebec Liberals may make Canadians wonder why Quebec is rife with political corruption.
There is more than one explanation but the main ones might have to do with the fact that for the last 20 elections, Quebec voters have been focusing more on what candidates have to propose about their constitutional options than about the management of their tax dollars.
The second possible explanation could have to do with the fact our government is bigger than elsewhere. The more government you have, the bigger the risk of embezzlement.
The QFN will launch its first conference in Quebec City on Oct. 23 and proposes to fight corruption and cynicism by empowering each individual much more.
There finally might be a little bit of hope for supporters of laissez-faire in Quebec.

Anybody who is a member of the PQ/BQ or supports them fills the role of idiot.
