no problem with the idea. But the Tamils aren't being smuggled, they're quite open about coming here. I'm not sure that this qualifies as human trafficking.

What a bunch of limp-wristed pansies we have become in Canada.

The Aussies sorted out their immigration issues in about half-an-hour.

I've been here 16 years and nothing has changed.

Thousands of us line up and wait years to get in, the rest just shred their passports before they land at Pearson/YYZ and get right in, get free shit and the blessings of the IRB and our media. A year later they bring their grannies in for the 'free' healthcare that I'm taxed to death on.

The Tories are as wimpy as the Libs on this.

Who has the balls to change this shite?

Move to the states so you can spend four times as much to get lower quality healthcare (Quantity over Quality), problem solved.

Is that the NDP way or just yours Jeff? I disagree with letting a load of cheats in so I should go and move to the States?

    Nice logic.

Maybe we could actually try and sort out our fucked up immigration system and get real refugees help that are languishing in UN camps around the world.

They can't pay $50,000 to hop on a slow boat to BC. They just have to suffer. I'd say they were more deserving than the rich Tamil cheats.

Or maybe they should just 'move to the states' eh?

It seems... no one is willing to change it.

Oh well, it was a nice country while it lasted.

You complain about immigration and yet at the same time areas are actually experiencing a workers shortage, it is a lot easier for me to find a unemployed native Canadian (not the first nations kind) than it is for me to find an unemployed foreigner.

If they are being forced to become illegals make it easier for them to get in, it would be even batter if we made it easier/cheaper to get them certified to do jobs in Canada that they did in their home country (I know of many doctors that came over and could not afford all the tests to be certified in Canada despite them knowing just as much). You can even add a little requirement that the immigrants need to be employed within a year to stay in Canada.

How about before we make it easier/cheaper for Canadians who are un or underemployed to get certified before we start importing half the world?

I complain about unfettered and unregulated immigration, and I am an immigrant. Get it right on your drive-by posts.

I'm all for skilled immigrants coming here to fill a gap in areas that are needed. The problem is that this isn't happening.

I have some experience at trying to get qualified candidates into positions within my area of expertise but the Province is blocking that area, unlike Alberta that actively works with industry to get skilled immigrants fast-tracked.

Your last post was at least more constructive than telling me to sod off to the US if I didn’t like Canada.
