I had no idea Inuvik was in need of a mosque. :?

You do, indeed, learn something new every day....

Hmmmm, where have I heard this before?

"The Muslim population is growing," said Muhammad Muhammad, who prays five times a day in the trailer. "It doesn't really fit for everybody, especially if there is an event."

By comparison, Daher said the proposed mosque will hold up to 100 people, and have space for activities beyond prayer.

"We thought we were in need for a community centre for social activities, for kids just to get together," he said.

"And if we have visitors, let's say, from outside, you know, they have a place to stay."

    Oh yeah, New York.

I wonder how long till someone says it's disrespectful to build a Mosque that close to the North Pole?

    ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

It just looks like a normal building. Why truck it all the way up there when you can just build one on the site or use prefab?

    From the article.
Organizers say building the mosque in Winnipeg instead of Inuvik saved the community tens of thousands of dollars in labour and material costs.

Just how many Muslims are in Inuvik?

Must be a bit of a culture shock, not to mention an environmental shock coming from say, Saudi Arabia to Inuvik.... 8O

Ramadan must be difficult, especially when it falls in the summer and the sun is out 24 hours a day. 8O

I love shit stories like this :)

"The journey was delayed by high traffic and narrow bridges"

This guy should be embarrassed of even talking to a reporter about this considering the size of some of the loads that have made their way from Calgary to Ft Mac. This is nothing more than a shit house on the move compared to them.

But it's Mosque so I guess thats why it's story.

The natives have seen the light. Combine native and Muslim approaches to causing shit and you get an unstoppable force.

I like the most agreed comment on CBC

Why is this story about a basic trailer/Mosque so important that it has front page prominence on CBC Edmonton? It's a ridiculous story and simply to appease our Muslim population and international news media. If ever there was a non-event where those in power of "news" can manipulate opinion and deliver dross to the mass populace, this is one fine example.

Why did this make the news? It's kinda like saying "I couldn't cash my check cause the bank wasn't open on a Sunday or stat"
