:? Sorry, but does this mean you're alright with human smuggling and queue jumping?

Liberal MP Marc Garneau said Public Safety Minister Vic Toews should "lower the tone" of the security concerns and allow the refugee application process to play out. He noted the new cases represented only two per cent of the 30,000 refugee applications Canada receives annually.

"We have an obligation to look at each person in a case-by-case basis," Garneau said. "A sense of proportion would be nice."

Remarkably sensible comment...is he really a Liberal?

Typical Liberal response. Wake up Sandorski. The Liberals enacted laws that encourage and allow it to happen in the first place.

It'll never happen. This is a country where we gyp our war vets but somehow manage to find $50000 (each) of taxpayer money to process the claims of bogus refugees and probable terrorists. We're fucked and nothing is ever going to change for the better.

I'm sorry boots, Garneau is wrong. I think there is great public support for a hardline with these queue-jumpers. Harper has a gift here and the Liberals will lose support over this.

It's similar to the tone Obama took with the 911 mosque. Obama misjudged the public mood on this to the Republicans advantage.

    Both these were no-brainer issues.

No, of course not. It just is not a major problem. It occurs once every few years.

Reports say $50,000 per refugee may be going to the Tamil Tigers back home.

I think that's worth a hard look at redoing business.

Not a major problem??? Allowing terrorists to enter the country to raise funds to send back home to continue their bullshit isn't a major problem?? Are you for fucking real?
