A Moncton, N.B., man is facing an array of charges after a weekend hostage-taking and police standoff at a convenience store.

    Hard to believe they didn't shoot him or let the dog rip him up a bit. He should have got some lead in the ass for sure.............

    Remember, as some of the other posters have mentioned, the dog is worth a lot, and the guy probably would have stabbed the dog had it chomped down on him. Also, the opening that people are speaking of, maybe it was a mistake, but I doubt it, if all avenues were closed off, there is a better chance of this idiot running head on into a crowd of gawkers, leaving the 'opening' could of been on purpose so they would know which direction he would run if he chose to do so.

    I was just as happy not to see the dog go after him because he could get hurt, but they are trained to disarm people. To me the dog didn't really seem fully trained either.....just an observation though.
    The news video was from the other side of the building where there were more cops but I still think they did a poor job at containing the building and area. The guy was able to run right up to someone's house past the police.
