We're going to prosecute them for criminal acts they did in Sri Lanka. Shouldn't we just be extraditing them? As for prosecuting them for criminal acts committed here, well I'm reassured he's not giving them an exemption on that - how tough of him. But how effective has the govt been in preventing extortion to get money out of local Tamils to fund the Tigers?

I am anti-immigration, because our immigration policy is retarded. We bring in the same number of people no matter what the local job market, we don't select immigrants for jobs that really need them, and we won't train Canadians to do those jobs, just import them from a 3rd world country and let that country pay for training. And we bring in so many people that can't speak the language, grannies and grandpas - what use are they? etc..

Basic first aid assistance only followed by a rapid deportation back to Sri Lanka. With the entire goddamn bill being submitted directly to the Sri Lankan government. Anything less and the Tory's will have failed as badly on this issue as the Liberals most certainly have done if they were the ones currently in power. The fact of the matter is more refugee claimants arrive in Canada by plane than arrive by boat. Why aren't you complaining about that?

That looks like our only option in this type of case.

These people didn't want to spend time in an Aussie detention centre and that's why they came to Canada instead. We need to find somewhere unpleasant and unattractive, instead of landing them in Victoria. Haida Gwaii is nice in theory, but I'd prefer the Arctic myself, as it not only provides a Canadian presence up north, but would also likely drastically limit how many refugees from hot, humid countries would be willing to try claiming refugee status in Canada.

No, our only option right now is fire all our panzy ass government officials and hire some australian ones.
