Explorer survives polar bear attack

An explorer has described the moment he was attacked by a polar bear - waking up to find the animal's jaws around his head.

    This guy is lucky to be alive, tis animals , when they attack they have no mercy... he really got lucky that guy saw him and shot the bear, good he is alive

    But despite his brush with death, Mr Nilssen said he was not angry at the bear, speculating that it carried out its unusual attack on humans because it was hungry.


    Nothing gets by that guy.

    Except for Polar Bears sneaking over his trip line and into his tent. They sneak right past.

    The only reason polar bear attacks on humans are unusual is because there aren't many humans where the polar bears are, and the humans have learned to be cautious. Polar bears are a top predator and strictly carniverous, unlike grizz, so they would have no hesitation about attacking a human.

    One guy's theory is that grizz are as cautious as they are is because there used to be an ueberbear in NA, twice the size of a grizz, so they still carry that fear around with them.
