Has hitting the exercise mainstream really stripped pole-dancing of its erotic baggage? So say some parents, who are signing up kids as young as five, Misty Harris reports.

I was going to add a paragraph that was in the print verison and not the online one. While the owner was saying she was trying to shake the erotic aspect she was naming the classes these 7 year olds could take things like "Promiscuous Girls" and a few others just as bad as that. Hardly trying to shake the erotic image.

The title is a bit misleading as most would not consider pre-teen being the 5 - 7 year old age group, even if technically 0 to 12 is pre-teen.

I guess the next Generation is gonna have some awesome Strippers. I can sort of see how Pole Dancing could be removed from the whole Erotic scene, but you might wanna change the Adult Pole Dancing scene away from Eroticism first. Just sayin.

Pole Dancing is an amazing sport, when done classy. You need gymnastic skills, aerobic skills, strength...

All you need to do is take it out of the stripclubs, into the Summer Olympics :P

As stated above, cerontly going to make for a interesting generation. However, who is that women kidding with the whole non-sexual reference. I have never seen or heard of anything related to pole dancing having anything but a sexual reference. Every type of dance generally has there own type of style. Some music are just meant for clubs, others solo, others with a partner, some romantic, some just plain out angry. Pole dancing has never been considered anything but erotic and sexual. Now 5 year olds taking classes? I bet all those old timer parents from when parents freaked out when there kids asked for piercings would just freak out and die.

Sigh, to be a kid right now than wait ti'll I was 18. "Hey babe, remember those lessons you use to take. Happy birthday, I bought a pole for you... yes.... for you, I have no interest in the least for your birthday present *cough*. Enjoy."

Remember that every time you freak out about sex and kids a 7 year-old kid learns practical lessons about intimacy by downloading a preview clip from Getto-Gaggers.

Bet you thought that was a joke, except at the end of the story it says they are actually hoping to do just that.
Mainstream acceptance of the practice has cited to support a recent bid for pole-dancing's recognition as an Olympic event.

Hey as long as its not anyone under 20 it might bump my Olympic viewership. Question is who would judge it? "Our first of 5 distinguished judges is Frank. Frank has a long history judging pole dancing in various clubs across the east coast since he was 17. Now 62 and 4 times divorced he's moved up from giving the ladies bills of vairous denominations to points on a scorecard."

Ah heck, whoever gets the most money stuffed in, well anywhere, gets the gold.

What makes you think I thought of it as a joke?

Maybe if people could get their minds out of the gutter and see what pole dancers actually do... We ohhhh and ahhhhh about Cirque du Soleil and gymnasts, but this is just as hard and on a high level, certainly not for every one. I used to be a gymnast, and I can tell you, I cannot, or could not, do what those girls can do.
