3 guilty in B.C. attack caught on YouTube

A B.C. provincial court judge has found three Vancouver Island men guilty of assault in an attack on a black man, the video of which was posted on YouTube last year.

My smpathy is with the guy who was attacked. But if the fight was really consensual, why is it deemed assault? I mean how consensual is one guy taking on three?

Maybe by consensual they mean the victim readily encourage the fight and didn't try to avoid it. I guess if the victim had somehow managed to come out on top he could have been charged with assault. Only self defense if you do not want to be a party to it. Victim should also get some kind of charge for encouraging the public disorder but I guess his but whooping was considered punishment enough for wanting to take on three guys.

The 3 guys called him nigger, he threw a water bottle at their truck, they stopped and came at him. I'm not sure that's consensual, sounds more like self defense to me.

True, one should be allowed to let idiots know your mind if they insult you. Bullies and racists are like weeds. If you don't let them know you're not going to take their crap they'll only keep growing and spreading.
