Penning people up like animals spreads disease? Ludicrous.

I shall not even mention the preposterousness of prison guards interfering with the rights of the stronger prisoners to rape the weaker ones.

If it weren't for the fact that 99% of these scumbag losers are going to end up back on the street one day, I'd say, "Soooooo.... what's the problem with that?". Unfortunately, we know they will, and the diseases they've contracted in prison will spread to the outside world like wildfire. There's conjugal visits to factor in as well. Not that I'd feel all that badly for someone who contracts AIDS from their jailbird boy/girlfriend, but then they're gonna go out and give it to someone else (or several someone elses) on the outside eventually.

I think it's far more about keeping us safe than the inmates.
