EIGHTEEN revellers were killed and 80 injured yesterday in a stampede at a top music festival in Germany.

    What in hell was so damned important that all those idiots had to crush in like that? I just don't get this. It's all so needless and horrifyingly tragic.

    Update: 20 are now dead and the festival has been permanently cancelled. As it should be.

    Edit: The young woman in the video that was posted here is supposedly okay.

    It is also said that it was impossible there were 1.4 million people there, and that 500,000 is more likely. The festival terrain could have 300,000 people or something, and Deutsche Bahn (the railway company) said about 150,000 people came to Duisburg by train.
    With that, 1.4 million seems a bit over the top...
