Ya right, in 2005 they said they would do that in 2 years. In 2007 they said they would be pretty good in 2011, now that its 2010 they are saying 2014. I think I see a pattern forming....

Pretty much should start a thread that takes bets on how long after Nato forces leave before the Taliban is running things again.

Another extract from Winston Churchill's 'The Story of the Malakand Field Force: An Episode of Frontier War', Afghanistan in 1897.

"Except at the times of sowing and of harvest, a continual state of feud and strife prevails throughout the land. Tribe wars with tribe. The people of one valley fight with those of the next. To the quarrels of communities are added the combats of individuals. Khan assails khan, each supported by his retainers. Every tribesman has a blood feud with his neighbor. Every man's hand is against the other, and all against the stranger."

    Things 'aint changed much.
