Canadian Forces Capt. Robert Semrau has been found not guilty of second degree murder and attempted murder in a battlefield death in Afghanistan. But he has been found guilty of disgraceful conduct.
I think that's still the end of his military career. I would have liked to see outright not innocent. Andy, is there a difference between what happened and innocent?
disgraceful conduct is a bit like 'conduct unbecoming a XXXX' it is a 'if anything else won't stick, this will' charge. The good news is, it can be a very light penalty or very server. It just depends, that being said if it is light, that doesn't mean his military career is over per say.

Indeed, it is more like something to block him from climbing any higher in rank but this is not bad enough to make it impossible for him to rejoin/stay in the CF.

He's a soldier so he'll find another army to fight for.
A better result than I expected.

There have been lots of incidents where doing the right thing has carried a cost.
A step up from Sec. 119 of the QR&Os?
