Some Manitobans are questioning the speed with which the province named a lake after a hockey star, considering that it takes three years to do the same thing for a soldier killed in action.

Because a few dollars and a few fans makes you much more important in this society then any politician, soldier, firefighter, etc.

I know and said pretty much the same thing when I first heard they were doing this.

    firefighter and soldier, no..........politician.....??

That being said, the provincial gov't announced that Seggie will have a lake named after him in a few months, on Remembrance Day.

There's 50,000 unnamed lakes in Manitoba, so they're not going to run out anytime soon, unless Palin becomes president and Herpes follows her in attacking Russia or something. It's not just KIA's that are honored this way, but prominent Manitobans. Some people want to make controversy about everything. I'm just surprised that this time it's not the Indians complaining the lakes all need to be given Indian names.
