Argentina legalized same-sex marriage Thursday, becoming the first country in Latin America to declare that gays and lesbians have all the legal rights, responsibilities and protections that marriage brings to heterosexual couples

    This is unusual that a staunchly Roman Catholic country would do this.

    There might be a blanket of excommunications from this.

    The RC church does that frequently with Americans. There are many American who have been excommunicated and don't know it.
