The controlled collapse of a building in downtown Edmonton resulted in debris tumbling into the street, blocking the eastbound lanes of Jasper Avenue.

I was just down on Jasper Ave this afternoon. I came on east of the Mayfairso never noticed anything. But further East, where Jasper curves into 82 street, lots of Cops, ambulance, TV News, were all about the top of the river bank. I didn't stay around to find out, but obviously something going on there. Have you heard anything about that Caleb?

Not a peep about anything at 82 and Jasper. Could just be run of the mill stuff, like a fire or medical incident. Lots of lower rent apartments in that area.

Here's some video of it. You can clearly hear the firefighters saying they should 'pull' the building yet it falls over as you would expect it to if the steel were weakened from the fires from the planes crashing into it. Oh, wait, that was a different conspiracy theory.

About time they got rid of that asbestos-filled eyesore. Now they just have to do the same for the Camsell out on 127th street.

Fire Capt. Pat Martin said his crews were called to the scene for a "non-medical assist" but had no idea what to expect when they arrived.

Are you saying that you had NO IDEA this was about to be done???

Am I the only one shocked by that fact??

No, they had no idea what 'non-medical assist' meant.

"Ummm . . .we had a building fall over. . .but we wanted it to fall over . . . but not right where it fell and we need help picking it up so we're calling you."

No offense, but shouldn't they have been on the scene when it was taken down?

On a karmic level, is this sign a preview of the Oilers upcoming season?

Just kidding. Very glad no one got hurt.

No, because it would have implied the Oilers were higher than expected at some point! Odds are they'll be cellar dwellers this season too (if not at the bottom, then close).
