Canada shelves fruit-, candy-flavoured cigarettes

Nooooo. My peach cigarellos. Gone. The horror.

Next is flavored chewing tobacco...

Because we all know a child would rather have ice cream flavoured tobacco over the real thing.

Does that mean no pop-eye cigarettes or are they gone already? I haven't bought candy since I was a kid.

My friend's daughter is a clerk at a 7-11 and she was saying you'd be surprised at how many underagers try to by cigarellos.

My grandfather used to smoke an apple and cherry scented pipe tobacco. I know it's just as bad as any other tobacco, but it wasn't offensive to the nose....then again, neither is carbon monoxide, but both can kill you.

I just don't understand why either government over here just doesn't take the final step and ban cigarettes outright.

While it may be healthy its also called 'freedom'.

Tobacco is also like oil companies. Once you have it you just can't stop using it.

Freedom?? That's funny. Harper re-crimmed weed because "his kids were reaching age". I asked him based on that same criteria, if he had any plans on doing the same with smokes and booze as well, after all, his kids are approaching age. He didn't reply, and he didn't need to.
Smokes won't be anytime soon because the gov't still makes a small fortune in taxes from them. Booze won't be because, well history has shown what happens when you try that

But for decades now, the gov't has forced one piece of legislation after another in an effort to "protect us" and save lives, as long as it doesn't interfere with THEIR financial intake. They re-crim weed under the guise of public safety while there has yet to be one documented case of death caused by direct use, yet tobacco has a real poor track record in that department and has in fact, resulted in illness and death in NON-SMOKERS.

I'm not meaning to turn this into another pro-pot thread, I'm just pointing out the overt hypocracy in gov't policy in regards to smokes.
Even getting away from the pot angle. Think about it for a second. You have to wear a seatbelt when you drive YOUR car, or you'll get a ticket. It's for your health and safety. Yet you can smoke 3 packs a day and as long as the gov't is getting their taxes from it, they don't give a shit if you kill yourself or cause yourself bodily harm. As long as you do it .
