Toronto's top police officer misled the public by displaying fake weapons used in a medieval-themed role-playing game to help justify their actions during G20 protests, their owner said Wednesday.

    The usual police bullshit:

Barrett, 25, of Whitby, Ont., was en route to a west-end park for a role-playing fantasy game called Amtgard when police stopped him at Union Station on Saturday...

His homemade shield, foam-covered baton, scale-mail vest, and roll of hockey tape sat next to bear spray, a modified BB-gun, and gas masks.

Barrett was enraged to see his property associated with violence and vandalism.

Blair had already been forced to admit that a chainsaw and crossbow on display at the news conference had nothing to do with G20 protests.

Same with when they make a drug bust and claim it's worth 8 trillion dollars on the street.

But when he turned on his TV Tuesday, he saw the gear displayed along with hatchets, bats and tire irons that police had confiscated over the weekend.

These seem pretty dangerous. *Shrugs* The cops wanted to make themselves look better, or just make the table look more full.

No one died during the G20 G8

I suggest people get the fuck over what ever the police did do or did not do stop playing monday morning quater backs and get on with your lives.

I know the media is pissed about how they were treated, but when your told several times that your media pass isn't going to save your ass three or four times and told to move and you don't, tough shit.

Ahh andy. Always rushing to call anything the cops say "bullshit" and believing everything the 'protesters' and the wankers in the media say without exception.

Gas masks for paintball? Sure andy, people always use gas-masks in paintball. The old NATO issue S6 respirator this guy had is a solid favourite with paintballers. It restricts airflow to about 60% of normal so is really useful in a paintball game when the paintballers use all that CS gas. Bear spray? Yep another solid fave in the paintball world as is a modified BB gun. If you miss with a paintball gun you can plug him with a pellet. No paintball gun found though eh?
But hey, people like you will always believe the bullshit excuses that liars use.

Do you know every car with a drunk driver at the wheel we stop, the guys has only had two beers? We should just let them go instead of locking them up and finding out they really had 10 beers.

All the wife beaters just gave the victims a 'push' too. But she must have tripped and hit her head on the coffee table. I always believe them......

We took loads of stuff of lots of people that we just dumped. Spears, oven mitts, goggles, etc. But hey, your not gonna change your views of what happened there because you know so much better than we did who were there.

Oh and on the crossbow carrying idiot that wasn't G20related. Oh get it now, we should have just let the guy walking around in the middle of Canada's biggest city with a crossbow just carry on as he wasn't a G20 protester. Great logic!

Do you know how pathetic you are sounding?

BORING BORING BORING and you andy are just full of it with zero credibility any more.

    andy = curtman 2.

Man....that really is mean, equating someone with Ganjahman. Blair put it best when he described them as, 'the curious and .'

The police only hurt their own credibility when they do stuff like this, because then of course you have to wonder what else that they are displaying that doesn't actually have anything to do with the demonstrations.

They only hurt their credibilty with the losers who believe everything they see or hear in the media.

In your world paintballers have gas-masks, pellet-guns and bear spray and Joe citizen walks around the city with a crossbow.

You have to admit that it was not really the best day to play Dungeons and Dragons in Toronto Saturday...

It reminds me some weeks ago, I saw 9 persons yelling and pursuing a guys with wood clubs at night.. I called the police and after they found them, a officer told me that they were playing Dungeons & Dragons. How could I know ?

And the usual apologists for the anarchists have no real evidence to back up their bile.

Show us another youtube vid curtman. You can stay in your basement and post it while you get a load of weed ready for the next trafficking run....

The fellow in question was purportedly going to go play 'Amtgard' - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amtgard

So, yes, the foam sword and shield are part of the pathetically geeky pastime. Still, this guy should have used some common sense before wading into a secured area or an area rife with cops while carrying very obvious (while harmless) weapons. Yes, I know the gear is harmless enough, but how are the cops supposed to figure that out on the fly in the middle of a riot situation?

Think about the cops going after people armed with guns and then some guy has an Airsoft and gets all upset because the cops didn't stop to see what he really had.

My point is that the cops were looking for weapons and what this guy was carrying deliberately look like weapons so he should not be so surprised or shocked that his gear was seized.

    Wow, that didn't take long..

Poor EyeBrock. So full of hatred on Canada Day. Better put the riot gear on.

    Not hatred curty-poos.

I'd just rather listen to credible voices instead of a drug-peddlar's bitter rants about the cops.

Traffickers aren't supposed to like the cops and you are proving the theory quite well.

And you're doing a fine job of representing the intolerant attitude of the officers who should be protecting honest law abiding citizens like myself.
