Two weeks after a failed dam sent a destructive torrent of mud and debris down upon homes and farms in Oliver, B.C., questions remain about how the affected are going to rebuild their lives, and who is going to pay for it.
Since the province was alerted to problems at a nearby reservoir two days before the dam let go, but failed to act, hopes are high that a review into the disaster will hold the government accountable and recommend added support for victims.
Take the government to court, I'm sure they would have a good chance of winning.
I like the poor bugger who's hydrowas knocked out. Because they went to a hotel until it could be restored, the place got robbed. The insurance company decided the house was uninhabitable therefore their insurance was void.....OINK!!! SQUEEE!!!

Typical of private insurance companies. Charge you an arm and a leg, but try to claim anything and they will find a million and one excuses not to pay.
I had a house fire 21 years ago and it took the insurance company three weeks to rule out that I'd lit the place on fire and then gone to sleep in it just to screw them over. Real nice experience. Six months later we were down in their Vancouver head office to get 'the final cheque' promised and there were 'a few problems'. My 10 year old son went down to underground parking and dragged the puptent up thru the elevator, and we told them we'd camp in the foyer over the weekend as we were a little short for a hotel. They cut the cheque in three minutes.

Thankfully I don't have any "horror stories" like yours.
My big beef is the arbitrary increase in premiums. I asked the CS rep why and she blamed it on "market trends".
Nothing to do with my driving record, accidents, my furnace in my house, etc. They simply want to charge more, and since it is illegal to go without insurance we have no choice but to pay what they want to charge.
