Six of the nine activists killed in Monday’s raid on an aid convoy were shot by a single Israeli commando who is now being considered for a medal of valour.

This guy saved his comrades. He succeeded to kill a terrorist who was pointing a gun at one of his fellows soldiers. I think he deserves the medal.

If the situation was reversed, would it be okay for the activists to announce that one of their guys was getting a medal for killing 6 Israeli soldiers? Of course not.

Israel should have done it on the down low, not broadcast it to everyone, that's my point. All this does is make a bad situation worse. Like I said, stupid.

Lets just say that Israel could have handled this a whole hell of a lot better.
Regardless of what actually happened they now have the reputation of being a bunch of thugs.

what does everyone want? those idiots on the boats damn well knew there was a blockade, they made the stupid decision to try to run it, then attacked the soldiers who were there to inspect it.....sorry but you reap what you sow.

Maybe Israel doesn't think it did anything wrong, ever think of that ? See that's the problem people expect them to be all PC and at least show a little "shame" because others feel they did something wrong.

By doing this it shows they're saying fuck that, we did nothing wrong and this soldier saved other soldiers lives. I can do without the PC bullshit, I'd rather know where people honestly stand. These people attacking the soldiers were willing to die for PR and some of them got their wish.

Don't worry though from what I've seen in the media this weekend the hate the Jews campaign is well under way, fuck the facts.

They can think they didn't do anything wrong, just like the activists think they didn't do anything wrong. But that doesn't necessarily make it so, now does it?

And I hardly think the activists planned on dying for the sake of generating some bad PR. To even suggest something like that is disgusting...

It's good thing you have your rep turned off because something like that would be worthy of neg rep.

Well since I don't think the IDF didn't do anything wrong I think it does make it so.

    Yeah they did.

How do you want to spin it now, want to call them "freedom fighters" instead of activists ?

Al-Jazeera did a special on the flotilla's leaving on Friday.

    http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/2489.htm

Here's a clip from the transcript.

Reporter: Despite the Israeli threats and some unexpected obstacles, the arrival of the ships at the rendezvous, in preparation to set sail to Gaza, has kindled the emotions and enthusiasm of the participants.

Crowd chanting:“Khaybar, Khaybar, oh Jews, the army of Muhammad will return.”

Reporter: Through songs about the Palestinian Intifada, the participants expressed their longing to reach Gaza.

Participant 1: The brothers here are shouting and are full of enthusiasm. They are waiting to leave soon, with the ships around us in the sea. Allah willing, we will make our way to Gaza.

Participant 2: We are now waiting for one of two good things – either to achieve martyrdom, or to reach Gaza.

Sorry, PR and martydom are two very different things...but then both of you would know that if you knew anything about PR or held onto any belief other than "Israel is absolutely, positively, 100% unfallable".

Whatever, we now return to your regularly scheduled Muslim bashing...

Keep it on the down-low? Every medal a Canadian soldier has earned has never been on a down-low. Wheres your criticism on that? We wouldn't want to hurt our reputation with the Taliban by giving medals to soldiers for killing them now would we?

This soldier earned his medal by saving his fellow soldiers lives, how is it a idiotic move by Israel for awarding him for that and making that info known to the public? If anything, it shows there government supports there soldiers and there actions. Stating there actions were justified against a world that is biased and blind that states there actions were not. I don't imagine Israel stepping down by not nominated this soldier or doing so quietly as a sign of support. It as well makes them guilty which WOULD be idiotic.

Israel should be allowed to nominate there soldiers and announce the decision if they wish to. Just like any other country who does so. Like stated above, us nominating our soldiers for killing taliban and saving there comrades despite all the protest against the wars.

No it wouldn't be right because they instigated the violence. Had the Israelis gone in their guns blazing we'd all be appalled but they went in with the intentions of enforcing a blockade not killing civilians. The violence began when the "protesters" started attacking the soldiers. What's so hard to understand?
