Edmonton couple convicted of spanking assault

They laid charges against them for pinching there daughter and sending her to her room when she was freaking out? Sais the charges were dismissed, still. WTF is with those charges in the first place.

Oh god, the poor teens back. Her parents are probally going to jail, but it's alright because those evil bastards were hurting your back a little. They did it out of love because generally 14 year olds should not be sexually active. Too many underage pregos to back that up as they don't have common sense. Though none of that matters because the poor dear hurt her back.

I'm not sure that spanking a 14 yr. old would be an effective form of discipline.

IMO, using your hand is spanking. Using a belt or wooden spoon or switch or any other weaponis assault! That the kid needed a damn good spanking/discipline is not in question, but if the parents hit anyone else with a belt, they would be charged with assault. What's the difference?

At a very young age, my mother's hand was no longer a deterrant. Didn't hurt.

Using your belt is administering a beating, using your hand is administering punishment.

There's a big difference between the two and while I'm an advocate of coporal punishment when required, using intruments to inflict pain is way over the threshold of good parenting.

That's when my folks switched to a smack upside the head. Until I got smart and started blocking them.

Maybe one swat on the covered butt however my jury is still out on when that would be in order. Certainly using a weapon (lets no split hairs a belt to inflict pain is a weapon) is wrong.
