Although Israel has a naval base on the Red Sea, Egypt had, until recently, had not allowed Israeli subs to use the Suez canal. So the Dolphins were modified to go around Africa, if they had to. But now the Egyptians, who are also feuding with Iran, regul

Interesting detail about something that Israel releases zero information about: nukes.

Calling the Dolphins "nuclear missile boats", while technically accurate, gives the wrong impression.

    What "wrong" impression? :?:

The term "nuclear missile boat" is typically used to describe large ballistic missile submarines. Ohio, Borei, Vanguard, etc. Subs that have enough destructive power to wipe countries off the map in minutes.

The Dolphins have more in common with our Victoria class. Diesel attack subs with a handful of cruise missiles with nuclear warheads.

    Entirely different breed of fish.

The one key difference between the Victoria class and the Israeli boats is theirs actually sail!!!

This could get ugly in a hurry. If the Iranian leaders latest comments are accurate where he claims they have enough enriched uranium for two warheads, the Israeli's might be thinking of a preemptive first strike as an option.

Just as an additional comment, the Dolphins are extremely quiet subs. Very difficult to detect.

That "preemptive strike" wouldn't be nuclear.

those subs are equipped with both conventional and nuclear weapons.

I'm aware, but Israel deploying nuclear weapons in a preemptive strike would essentially mean total war.

I don't think many (if any) countries would be coming to their aid.

I never said they would, I think it would be reasonable to assume any preemptive strike would be conventional.

    Natranz.. the Nuke power station.

Conventional strike, like Iraq in the 90's...
and Syria a couple of years ago.

LOL at the idea that you need megatonnage to ruin Ahmadinijihad's day. A dozen or so in the the presumed 200 kiloton range hitting the most sensitive targets would be more than sufficient to wipe the very concept of an organized Iranian state right out of existence.
