I'm not a super big fan of Israel, but I think they are less likely to start something nuclear than the nuts in Tehran.
I wish Israel would just work with us here.
Ya, because they are the dysfunctional country in that mess.
Why should the middle east be nuclear free? Will America or Russia, who are no less aggressive willing to give up their nukes?
If Israel doesn't want to give up their nukes, fair enough. Not the west, nor east can force them otherwise (well, ignoring the billions the USA gives them).
If Iran, Saudi, Egypt and Syria want their nukes, fair enough to them also. They are a good deterrent, and after seeing what happened with Comrade Saddam in to the east, Iranians have all the good reason to fear western (and Chinese) imperialism.

As signatories to the NPT, the above countries are not permitted to develop nuclear weapons.

Well, then they're screwed. They could pull out if they wanted. Contracts can be changed.

Sure they can give their three months notice and withdraw, but that would have unpleasant consequences.

China signed the NPT and they acquired nukes well after.
The bigger the economy, political clout, and sphere of influence, the more they get away with breaking the rules.

China acquired nuclear weapons in the 1960's. They signed on to NPT in the 1990's.
Both the NPT and the NWFZ (Nuclear Weapons Free Zone) have a very filthy aura of imperialism to them.
The NWFZ is consists of Latin America, Africa, Russia's Caucasian neighbors, and China's southern neighbors. All these regions until recently were under the shadow of a respective superpower.
Most of these treaties serve as a way to protect superpowers from countries they are fucking over, or will fuck over in the future, one way or another.

You are right about this one.
To be honest, a nuclear free middle east is just western hypocricy.

The Islamic Republic of Iran does not need to look outside it's border to display its pathological display of mental Illnes. They are twisted all on their own. They hang 14 year olds, they cut their children to show religious faith.
Rape victims are the ones that get punished. That government is a barbaric lot. These folks having a nuclear weapon is NOT a good thing for anybody.
If RSA wants to industrialize, and export power to its neighbors, who is Europe to dictate to them how to do it? Solar panels they say! Ha.
It goes back to Israel's right to develop and hold nukes if it wishes, it's a sovereign nations and so are their neighbors. If certain members want to abandon the NPT, that's their prerogative.
