An inaugural ban on alcohol in mountain park campgrounds west of Calgary has resulted in the quietest long weekend in recent years.

This is something they should consider implementing in all provincial and national parks between Easter and Remembrance day. The way things are run in the parks now means I'll never spend the weekend at any of the parks in the Lower Mainland, or near any city.

I see again that the actions of a few outway the enjoyment of the majority. This is just one more freedom taken away from citizens that otherwise would have kicked back had a beer and relaxed for the weekend.

Not true. At Ontario Provincical Parks and Conservation Areas, there are liquor bans all summer. But they don't enforce it unless you give them a reason to. They don't take away any of your freedoms unless you demonstrate an inability to act like an adult. Then, if you can't drink responsibly, they have a policy in place to evict you.

Weeeeell... the freedom is gone on paper though.

Anyway, I don't like it. I like my glass of merlot around the fire, but I am absolutely sick of the fucktards that come out to the woods to play music and roar like shitiots till three in the morning. Maybe instead of just tossing them in the morning, they should fine them as well - a good hefty fine for park upkeep.

Put that on the sign at the mouth of the park and maybe they'll think twice.

Frontier justice. If someone's being a dick, they're likely to find a flat tire (or 4) when they come to.

Fines are an option, but if somebody is being disruptive, they should be evicted right then and there. And have the cops waiting down the road to test the driver for alcohol. If they have nowhere else to stay, may the local jail available for them until they sober up.

I for one have never been a camper at Albertas parks, the inflated rates just to enter the park are enough to keep me away, I do enjoy a drink or 2 while camping and go to private sites to enjoy myself.
I fail to see why anyone in Alberta would go out on the long weekends, even when quiet the camps are all full, anywhere you have to book a mont ahead of time to go to isn't really the experience I'm looking for.

I always found the best way to get back at those morons was to fire up the chainsaw or your own music at 7am and prevent them from getting any sleep!

Sadly it's a case of a few bad apples ruining camping for everyone else.

Yeah, but it annoys everyone else. Last time I was at French Beach, the retards behind me were playing red neck noise all day long. I finally got tired of it and cranked Lady Gaga - they got the hint and turned it off for a bit.

Nothing wrong with trashy whores as long as they don't pretend to sing and dance!
