Venezuelans are good people and the country is nice, but I can't help but think that Chavez is a bit cracked in the head.

I hope he doesn't ruin the country.

More theft under the cover of socialism.

Wheeeeee!!! This is fun. Let's see how fast Chavez can flush the Venezuelan economy down the toilet. I say six more months before it becomes a full fledged member of the third world. Someone call Sally Struthers! Hugo needs a sponsor!

Yeah, have you noticed that Hollywood isn't wrapping their love around Chavez anymore?

Anybody investing in companies with big assets in Venuzuela these days?

I doubt it. Capitalism has a way of making countries that don't play ball poor very quickly. It's economic Darwinism.

I like that expression. As Schopenhauer said with his "creative destruction" (don't know if it's the same terms in english than french's "destruction créatice").

Chavez could care less. All he wants is power and when Venezuela goes broke he will declare war on Columbia and then Panama in order to distract the population from their economic woes. He was hinting at a border war with Brazil a couple years ago and the Brazilians informed him in no uncertain terms that any such war with Brazil would result in Venezuela's utter devastation.

This guy will lead his country to war and bankrupting it, IMHO, is a measured part of that process.

    Sorry, it's Schumpeter, not Schopenhauer.

And what if absolutely none of that happens?
It has always happened with socialism. Don't you know your history ?
