A 24-year-old Arab American from Michigan beat out 50 other women to take the 2010 Miss USA title Sunday night, despite nearly stumbling in her evening gown.
"KorbenDeck" said Considering she is pro birth control and wore a bikini, they can't call her a Muslim
The article was rather vague in saying that her family observes the Christian and Muslim faiths. Most Christiansw don't follow the Christian tenets but still consdier themselves Christians. The same can be said for Muslims, I'm sure.
Unless of course one is a weird ass fundie zealot...
Pretty open family there, too bad most people in the Middle East can follow up on it. It said she attended a Catholic school and Muslims are very strict on what they do with what with whom....but oh well...
Lebanon, historically, was a fairly tolerant place. Even during the Civil War you had Christian factions siding with Muslim factions against other Christians and vice versa. Mixed marriages and families aren't that uncommon.

Mix marriages are not uncommon in Islam, what is uncommon is a non Muslim husband and a Muslim wife since that is forbidden. The rule is that Muslim men may take non Muslim wives, but Muslim women are never aloud to have a non Muslim husband.

Yeah but Lebanon isn't exactly the most stable place now is it?
The Muslims now form the majority of the population.
