The 20-year-old Chipman, N.B., woman involved in the hit and run that killed a Toronto woman in a wheelchair last summer was sentenced to two years plus one day in prison on Thursday.

    Once again, had this been a man, his sentence would have been longer.

    Doubt it. I worked with a welder who mowed down a senior citizen in a crosswalk while street racing. He spent less time than that in jail.

    He's a real piece of shit.

    Did you see the similar case with street racing in NFLD where a young man killed an elderly lady? HE got 5 years for it. And HE didn't destroy evidence in the process.

    But SHE wasnt streetracing or ran a red light. She only fled the scene of an accident and covered it up.
    Not the same at all.

    Yep. I like to get on the men are treated differently than women bandwagon, but in this case I don't see it. In Vancouver, a bus driver who killed a woman in a cross walk got driving without due care and attention - I believe that's 6 points and a fine. He didn't run, of course.
