If she says artificial I'm sure they can find a room with organically grown padding on the walls for her.

Methinks you can do a fabulous job with 200k, without carpetting (apparently the walls are not a problem) or cleaning products (you buy yourself...) in your kitchencabinets.

I think the developer should have his name out in bold print, for what he has offered. Don't see them like that anymore!

Her only option would be a log cabin built in the woods. I'm talking about unprocessed logs as well. Basically cut the tree down, remove the branches and stack it until you have a box structure, bark and all. Beyond that there isn't a home anywhere that doesn't have some sort of chemical as part of the building process, considering chemical is such a broad term. Water is a chemical ffs. Some people are just not longed for this world.

Yes, and remaining in Toronto with it's curtain of smog - sorry - air quality is going to help her sensitivities.

There is a huge difference between being sensitive to something and being allergic to it. Both can be assisted by consulting an allergist.

While off-gassing and VOCs are problematic to some folks, they usually can be identified quickly and avoided. I would say more folks have reactions to moulds and mildews than chemicals.

I would be interested to see just how many ppm of the offending chemicals are needed before she gets a headache.

WTF does this woman want??? I have worked on several homes for people with varying degrees of this problem.
As Brenda pointed out, carpets, drapery,stippled ceilings etc. all retain voc's. These are eliminated and replaced with enamels paints, laminate,hardwood, ceramic with epoxy grouts, wood-slat venetians, high quality washable furnace filtres, air exchangers, etc. Actually cheaper design appointments than a conventional home!
