fan comes from the word fanatic...and you can't tell me that there aren't a shitload of 'fans' out there(of all sports) who aren't certifiable.

Not when it comes to baseball, Shep. Part of being a "fan" of baseball is a respect for the game, its history and traditions. Sure, we're certifiable, but a baseaball "fan" would never run on the field. A drunk idiot with a ticket would, but not a baseball fan.
