Wow,$13 billion. And for the billions of dollars tax payers have given the natives, and they still want more money. Wish I could go back in history and find some government that did something to my ancestors. I bet my lawsuit would be kicked right out the door.

I want restitution for every white person killed by native warriors during the setteling of North America by Europeans.

See how fucked up that sounds, so basically we will pay through taxes even more now for what our fore-fathers did to the natives, screw that, 100's of years after the fact and you take a govenment that has nothing to do with how things happened and hold them to task, BS, how about you sue Great Britian and France ect... for sending settlers here in the first place, at least then your demands for money will be directed at the right country.

Almost makes one wish that the original "genocide" had actually been successful.

Shouldn't they be contacting France and Great Britain? I know of no recognized Canadian government in 1610.

Pay the 13 billion. Then charge them 14 billion for improvements.

Yet another typical whoa is me response from the natives in this country. Makes me want to vomit!

Nice. First, it'll be interesting to see them prove genocide in the 17th century context. Second, why is Canada listed as a defendant in actions during the 1600, 1700s? Third, any money (and you know that this is what it is really about) received as compensation or from the Colonial/Canadian government should be paid back in full as it was obviously given under fraudulent means. Lastly, i can't wait till descendants from the Wyandot or Neutrals take the Haudenosaunee to court for similar actions.

Also deduct all the welfare programs, free housing, free schooling and tax breaks they have had since the founding of Canada

1610?? ROTFL So this gov't is responsible for what European settlers "did" 257 years BEFORE we even became a nation?

Gee, some of my ancestors were killed by the English during their war(s) with Scotland, maybe I should go sue the current English gov't for their deaths  I'm not greedy though, a mere $10 billion would make me forget about it

I agree with "Tman 1: Shouldn't they be contacting France and Great Britain?" I believe these Aborignals did at times throughout "Canada's history," get compensated for native lands. Presently, some band/native councilors have become money greedy and even screwing their own people. Many reserves are modern and have a modern lifestyle, but many are still abusing any handouts by the Provincial/Federal governments. "Give them their land and rights back Canada!" But, take away all the modern technology that goes with it! Back to the ax and horse!!!

They came from the evil Europeans.

So where would all the 2nd Nations go? In BC, 1st Nations claim over 100% of the land mass. Doesn't leave much room for the rest of us.

I think this case is interesting. If they win, it would show that Canada really is nuts, and cause a lot of problems. I hope the courts hand them their ass - it would actually set back native claims.

But I'm worried that we'll settle the case, in typical Canadian fashion. Oh, the poor dears, we have to give them something. Govts have every incentive to keep greasing the native squeaky wheels, because most Canadians aren't paying attention. One day I think it's all going to come back and bite us in the ass - as we give away more and more of the country to one race.

That all depends if A) The English kept any records from 1610 on their old 286's, or if B) the French really give two s**ts.

Can we blame the U.S. for this one somehow? PDT_Armataz_01_41

The goal isn't to force all of us onto a boat back to the Old World.

The goal is money, dollars and cents.
