Inside the coffin lies the body of a young Somali man from Toronto, killed in Fort McMurray and prayed over by an Edmonton community where most didn't know him.
The fact that these people were involved in drugs is no reason for the RCMP to use any less resources or investigate any less thoroughly. After all, every murder committed is an opportunity to take a murderer off of the street. If the rate of conviction is any lower because the victim was a criminal, then the police are passing on the oppotunity to rid the streets of 2 criminals, which I don't think is acceptable.
"We have more questions than answers," said Mahamad Accord of the Alberta Somali Community Centre. "Show us some leadership and show us some ownership."
Ownership? Leadership? Isn't that what your community should be doing in order to prevent your own youth to be brought into crime? You know, Somali religious and civic leaders helping youth to be moral or whatever? The government isn't there to hold the hands of everybody. If you want to solve the problems of crime in your community, maybe your community should realize there's something wrong within itself.

+1. I keep hearing these leaders on the news that the police aren't doing enough to solve these crimes, then I hear the police asking the public for any information on the murders. As if the culprits that are obvious to the community leaders are also known to police. Courts don't operate on rumour. Time for people to step up and drop a dime to crimestoppers.

Really? A guy or guys walk into an apartment, kills a guy, then walks out. And the police aren't doing enough? Perhaps the anonymous caller who reported the death might have also revealed the killer while he had them on the phone?
There is a turf war in the Somali community's drug dealers. Albertans aren't stupid. No one in the Somali community is talking, and the rest of the population is faulted for not being psychic?
These people will be punished, if caught. Now, lets see if people in the Somali community who have the information needed to give the police a target for their investigation are really concerned with justice.

Look at the country you people came from and figure it out.
